| Summary, etc | El propósito del presente artículo es aproximarme al alcance que tuvieron las decisiones de los jueces entre 1991 y 2000 teniendo como perspectiva el cumplimiento de su papel como garante de los derechos. Para ello presentaré en la primera parte, un lineamiento general de la función judicial en nuestro país en las últimas décadas, la cual, como veremos, ha evolucionado a la par con la transformación del entorno político-social. Posteriormente, expondré algunos conceptos de diversos autores de la expresión Estado Social de Derecho. En la tercera parte presentaré un balance jurisprudencial sobre los principales pronunciamientos de la Corte Constitucional en el período en referencia, en cuanto al papel del juez en el Estado Social de Derecho.
