| Target audience note | Resumen: El comercio entre países es una herramienta fundamental para su desarrollo si se realiza en un plano de igualdad, si se toman en cuenta las condiciones de cada uno y, sobre todo, si se constituye en un medio para lograr el respeto y la promoción de los derechos humanos (DDHH). Con la adopción de una serie de Tratados de Libre Comercio (TLC) en la región, dicha visión queda en entredicho ya que, tal como están estructurados, ignoran la obligación de los Estados americanos de respetar y garantizar el libre ejercicio de algunos de los derechos de las personas sujetas a sus jurisdicciones. La pretensión de este artículo es reflexionar sobre el impacto de los TLC en los Derechos Humanos, y sobre los instrumentos que ofrece el Sistema Interamericano para afrontar el desafío que representa el poder de ciertos actores privados cuyas actividades ponen en riesgo la vigencia efectiva de tales derechos humanos. |
